Production Of Human Food From Jatropha And Other Biologicals (US Patent No. 8737717)
This patent is for the detoxification of food substances to human edible levels such as Jatropha seeds and toxic algae. The machinery can produce ethanol as a fuel and also use the alcohol as a detoxification agent for the seeds (and algae plant matter) which are toxic by nature.
Jatropha is a genus of approximately 175 succulent plants, shrubs and trees (some are deciduous, like Jatropha Curcas), from the family Euphorbiaceae. Jatropha is native to Central America and has become naturalized in many tropical and sub-tropical areas, including North America, Africa and India. Originating in the Caribbean region, jatropha was spread as a valuable hedge plant to Asia and Africa by the Portuguese. The small yet mature trees bear female and male inflorescence. The tree do not grow very tall. The jatropha plant ishardy and resistant to drought and pests, and produces jatropha seeds containing up to 40% jatropha oil which, after being refined, can be turned into jatropha biofuel with our Jatropha biodiesel processor
